BEFORE USE

Congratulations! You are now the owner of  a PURLINE water fountain.

Read this manual carefully before you use the water fountain to ensure it works properly and lasts for many years.  Keep these instructions for future reference.

The PURLINE fountain provides you with refrigerated or heated water at any time. Practical, it doesn’t take much space and can easily fit into your home or professional environment.

Thanks to its various filtering stages, your water will always be of high quality, with no polluting or chemically contaminating elements (chlorine, heavy metal, insecticides, unpleasant odors, sediment …), and enriched with minerals and trace elements necessary and indispensable for the human body.

SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

-          Use this device only as recommended by this manual. Any other use is not advised by the manufacturer and may damage the unit.

-          Make sure that your voltage corresponds to the supply voltage required for the heating device (AC220-240V/50Hz).  The wall outlet must be grounded.

-          The device plug must fit into the outlet perfectly.  Otherwise, have it checked by an electrician.

-          Do not use an electric extension cord.

-          Do not use the device if the plug or electric cord are damaged, if the device has been damaged or if it does not work properly. Have it checked and repaired by competent professionals.

-          You should always turn the device off before unplugging it to clean, move or repair it. You should also unplug it when it is not in use.

-          The water fountain should always be placed on a stable, flat and rigid surface. No piece of furniture or object should sit on the electric cord.  The electric cord should not be placed under a rug or carpet. The electric cord should not be placed in a busy area where it could cause a fall.

-          The device should be placed so that the plug is accessible.

-          Make sure that the ventilation outlets are free from any obstruction around the device or its potential casing.

-          You should leave a space of 10 to 20 cm at the back of the fountain so that the ventilation is not obstructed.

-          The device is to be used for household purposes.

-          Keep children away from the fountain.  They could be scalded.

-          Do not expose the fountain to the sun or sources of heat and excessive humidity. Do not place it close to other electric devices.  This could be dangerous should water leakage occur.

-          Do not change the plug or electric cord yourself. If necessary, call upon a professional.

-          Do not turn the fountain on and off simply by plugging it in or unplugging it.  Use the switches as well.

-          When transporting the device, avoid leaning the fountain to an angle above 45°.

-          When unpacking and installing the fountain, be careful not to damage the refrigeration circuit.

-          Do not place the fountain close to a source of heat or close to furniture or devices that may be damaged in the case of water leakage. Choose a ventilated, non-humid and shady area.  It is strictly prohibited to place the fountain outdoors, in the sun or in the rain.

-          CAUTION: Do not plug the device in before installing the reservoir and observing the flow of hot water from the tap.

FOUNTAIN INSTALLATION

Caution: if the fountain was in a horizontal position during transport, leave it rest vertically for 24 hours before turning it on (like a refrigerator).

DO NOT INSTALL THE FOUNTAIN NEAR A WINDOW OR PICTURE WINDOW Excess sun or light directly on the reservoir may, through photosynthesis, cause small green alga to appear in the reservoir.

Make sure the fountain is in a stable position.  Do not place the back of the fountain against a wall (leave a space of at least 10 to 20 centimeters)

Do not activate the hot water system (or plug in the device) until the internal hot water reservoir is filled.

Washing the Filter

The multi-level filtering filter is composed of activated carbon, mineral stones, coral sand and other elements. If shaken during transportation, it may emit fine dust which could mix into the water on the first filtering.

For this reason, we recommend you wash the filter in a large amount of water before placing it in the reservoir.  (Leave the filter sit in the water for 1 or 2 hours.)

The defrost drains must also be cleaned before the first use and after a period of non-use by letting water flow through.

Filter description

Placing the Reservoir and Installing the Fountain

The reservoir is composed of 2 parts: the internal reservoir, into which the water is poured before filtering, and the lower reservoir which collects the filtered and purified water. (We suggest you clean each reservoir element before installation.) (Use household detergent for this cleaning.) Remove the label (affixed for safety reasons) on the front of the fountain.

1-            Make sure that the 3 buttons (yellow, red and green) located on the back of the fountain are at the “0” position.

2-            Place the lower reservoir on the upper part of the fountain after having screwed the float onto its base, as indicated in the sketch below.

3-            Screw the pre-filter with its cartridge into the internal reservoir with the plastic nut.

4-            Then attach the filter cartridge(s) (depending on the model) by screwing it(them) directly onto the lower part of the upper reservoir.

5-            Tighten the filter so as to avoid water flowing directly without passing through the filter, and ensure the joint is in the correct position.

6-            Place the upper reservoir on the internal reservoir and set it on the reservoir.

7-            Completely fill the upper reservoir with water and make sure the water passes through the filter properly with no leakage from the base of the upper reservoir. Should this occur, simply tighten the filter. Wait until the water passes through the outside reservoir. Empty the outside reservoir. Go through the operation again. On the third filling, you may place the cover on and drink the water.

8-            Plug in the fountain’s electric cord to the electric current, with grounding, as well as the ultra-violet lamp plug (available in some models).

Important: Never turn the device on when the water (not yet heated) is not available when you press the red push-button (hot water tap).

OPERATIONS:

After having carefully followed the above steps to install the fountain and reservoir, and after filling the reservoir:

Press on the hot water distributor and wait until the water flows from the hot water tap.

REMINDER: Never plug the device in before installing the reservoir and observing the flow of water from the hot water tap.

  1. Make sure the fountain’s electric supply plug is plugged in properly.
  2. Press on the cold water/hot water switches at the back of the device (11/12) and place them in the (|) position.  Water will then start to heat and cool.

-         wait at least 30 minutes for hot water.

-     wait at least 45 minutes for cold water.

  1. When no water remains in the reservoir, fill it and remember to turn the fountain off and unplug it beforehand.

  1. For water at room temperature, turn either the cold or hot water switch off at the back of the device (11/12).

  1. If ice obstructs the cold water tap, stop the cooling (with the switch at the back of the fountain) for 4 hours, then turn it on again.

Never let hot water flow when there is no water in the reservoir.  This could damage the device.

If, after being on for 15 minutes, hot water remains cold even though the red indicator (4) is on, the heating boiler circuit-breaker needs to be re-initialized. Open the back panel by unscrewing the 4 screws. On the right side of the hot water reservoir, you will see 2 buttons for temperature control. When the temperature exceeds 97 degrees C, one of the buttons plays the role of a circuit-breaker and stops the boiler from functioning.

Simply press on the button to re-initialize it and allow the boiler to function again.

Screw the back panel back on.

ULTRA-VIOLET LAMP FUNCTIONS

(On certain models)

The UV lamp sterilizes water in the reservoir. It is an effective addition to filters and maintains the high quality of the filtered water in the reservoir. UV rays eliminate all bacteria that may be present in water (streptococci, coliforms, sporangium …).

The UV lamp is connected to a box with 3 indicators and a black button to turn the lamp on.

The GREEN indicator indicates that the box is live.

The RED indicator indicates that the lamp is live and ready to work.

The YELLOW indicator turns on when the UV lamp is operational.  The red indicator will then turn off.

When the UV lamp is turned on, it remains on for 1 or 2 minutes, and will shut off automatically. Approximately one hour later, it will turn on again automatically for a new period of 1 to 2 minutes, and so on, with no need to do anything further.

USE OF THE REFRIGERATOR: (available On certain models)

-          When using the refrigerator for the first time, do not place anything inside for the first hour it is on.

-          Remember to place the small tray under the refrigeration element to recuperate water from defrosting.

-          Hot products should be cooled to room temperature before being placed inside the refrigerator.

-          Remember to leave space within the refrigerator so that air can circulate.

-          Regularly make sure that the refrigerator door is correctly shut.

-          The refrigerator must be cleaned regularly with a sponge a few drops of bleach.

-          To defrost the refrigerator, turn the defrost switch to the “|”position, see No. 13, at the back of the device.

-          Do not forget to empty the defrost water tray and to clean the refrigerator door joint.

RESERVOIR

RECOMMENDATIONS:

-          It is important to clean the filters before they become ineffective. For an average use of 5 to 10 liters per day, we recommend you change the filters every year. These filters are guaranteed to treat 2,700 liters.

-          The outside of the filtering system may be cleaned with a moist cloth. You must also regularly rinse the inside and outside reservoirs. Do not use abrasives.

-          If you do not use the fountain for a prolonged period, it is important not to empty the reservoir of water so that the filters do not dry out. At the time of re-use, empty the water present in the reservoir and fill the fountain again.

-          Never use hot water to clean the filters or fill the reservoir.

-          Do not put the reservoirs in the dishwasher.

-          Do not fill the reservoir directly from the tap.  Use a pitcher or other container.

-          The filtering speed will slow down as the outside reservoir fills up.

-          If the ceramic filter is dirty, the filtering speed will decrease.

-          Remember to regularly clean the reservoirs to avoid calcareous or other types of deposits. (Use a household scale remover or white alcohol vinegar to remove calcareous deposits.)

-          Remember to empty the excess water tray (9), located under the water outlets,  from time to time.

STORAGE:

If you do not intend to use the fountain for a long period of time:

-          turn off and unplug the device

-          wait until the hot water has cooled, then empty the excess water by removing the drain cover at the back of the device

-          place the drain cover back on once the water has emptied

-          leave the refrigerator door open to prevent unpleasant odors

-          store the fountain in a dry area.

Before using the fountain again, clean the reservoir thoroughly.
